PAG RACing roundup 20/05/2009

With the Winter Carnival upon us again it was great to see Sequestrate return to his his best with a barnstorming 5th beaten 1/2 length to She's In The Guide at Doomben last Saturday over 1110m. "He was off the track first up at Eagle Farm so it was hard to get a guide on him but his run last start has him right on target now. He is nominated in the Chief De Beers Handicap at Doomben this Saturday where he is well weighted with 54kg" said Peter.

Sevenspanishangels has done a good job since winning her maiden at the Gold Coast in March, finishing 2nd in a Fillies and Mares Class 1 at the Gold Coast in April followed by a solid 6th when up in class in a Fillies and Mares Class 3 at the Gold Coast in May. She has accepted in a Fillies and Mares Class 3 at the Gold Coast this Friday where she has drawn barrier 4 but it is doubtful of running due to the inclement weather.

PAG RACing roundup 31/03/2009

Sevenspanishangels winning Gold Coast 28/03/09It was a case of Sevenspanishangels first and daylight second when the 4yo mare broke her Maiden at the Gold Coast Saturday. Ridden by the inform Mitchell Spears, Sevenspanishangels streaked away from her rivals in the straight to score a commanding 3 length win from Exelero, with Refinance filling 3rd place.

It was just deserts for the consistent mare who had been placed 3 times in her previous 6 starts.

"I had nominated her a few times previously but was just waiting for the right race and conditions. She obviously got through the going ok today be" said Peter.

Whilst it has been a relatively quiet period for the stable over the last 6 weeks as far as runners are concerned there has been plenty happening behind the scenes. We will have a full report on the stable in the coming weeks.

Consistent mare Thunder Aura broke her maiden on Saturday with an impressive win at the Gold Coast. Ridden by Mitchell Spears, Thunder Aura came away to win by 1 1/4 lengths from Manilla Girl and Rubin Jane. "She probably should have won at her previous start at Eagle farm but she never handled the wet track at all, so back on top of the track I was pretty confident she could win. We will look for a nice race for her in the next few weeks" said Peter.

It was nearly a winning double with Sniparama again going down by the barest possible margin of a nose in race 7 at the Gold Coast. Again with Mitchell Spears in the saddle Sniparama knuckled down to his task to try and overhaul the tearaway leader Witches Chase but the leader just bobbed on the line denying him a well earned victory. "He is all guts, he just keeps putting in! I have nominated him in a Class 4 1500m at Eagle Farm next Wednesday where he should be hard to beat despite the class rise" said Peter.

Funk Soul Brother put his best foot forward with a nice 5th beaten just on 1 1/2 lengths at Ipswich yesterday. "He had a couple of excuses the past 2 runs but it looks as though he is back on track" said peter.

Boisterous Boy will make his much anticipated return in a Class 3 over 1200m at Eagle Farm Wednesday where he has been allotted 55.5kg. "He has had plenty of time off so we will just take him one step at a time. It's just great to see him back after his injury as he always puts in, he's such a genuine customer" said Peter.

Sequestrate ran his usual honest race to finish 9th beaten 3 lengths in the Sunshine Coast Cup on Sunday. "The tempo of the race didn't suit so to finish so close and be there at the 200m was good as it was a high class field" said Peter.
